The Senior Waiter is responsible for providing exceptional guest service, supervising junior wait staff, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the restaurant floor. The role requires maintaining service standards, handling guest requests efficiently, and supporting the management team in training and development of staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service

  • Greet and escort guests to their tables with a professional and welcoming attitude.
  • Present menus, take orders accurately, and ensure timely service of food and beverages.
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly to requests, and handle complaints courteously.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of menu items, specials, and promotions.

Operational Duties

  • Supervise and guide junior waiters/waitresses to ensure smooth service.
  • Assist in table settings, mise-en-place, and overall cleanliness of the dining area.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure efficient and accurate service.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and report feedback to the supervisor/manager.
  • Ensure adherence to restaurant service standards, policies, and hygiene practices.

Team Support & Training

  • Mentor new staff and assist in on-the-job training.
  • Allocate tasks and ensure fair distribution of duties during shifts.
  • Support the Restaurant Supervisor in maintaining discipline and teamwork.

Cash & Billing

  • Present bills, process payments, and handle cash/card transactions responsibly.
  • Ensure accurate billing and proper closure of guest checks.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience as a Waiter in a restaurant or hotel (with at least 1 year in a senior/lead role).
  • Strong knowledge of food & beverage service standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate junior staff.
  • Good problem-solving and guest-handling skills.
  • Flexible to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Qualification: Hotel Management Diploma / Graduate preferred.
