As an Environment Manager, you'll manage a set of end-to-end environments that're used by the platform's applications to enable the successful implementation of platform change and deliver customer value through adapted design and delivery to meet a continuous deployment approach.
Alongside this, you'll facilitate business and infrastructure changes through the procurement of hardware, environment allocation, release or build process changes, environment setup and the coordination of bank-wide infrastructure initiatives, like power down tests and data centre moves.
Your top priorities will include:
- Providing technical advice for all environment-related activities, new infrastructure requirements and the introduction and onboarding of new technologies across the platform
- Refreshing and configuring production and non-production environments and assisting with resolving production issues that relate to infrastructures
- Understanding the upcoming flow of work and the customer vision to enable a fast response to our environment-related needs
- Improving efficiency, resilience, reliability and quality by increasing the use of automation and virtualisation
- Encouraging the identification of ideas and driving the delivery of initiatives that'll reduce costs and simplify our bank
To be successful in this role, you'll need technical knowledge of platforms, technology, products and domains and an understanding of relevant industry standard environment toolsets and processes. You should be able to define and agree environment requirements with delivery teams, build or enhance environment landscapes, and validate connectivity and functionality to ensure readiness for testing and deployment. It will be good to have experience in managing and coordinating release management and deployments across environments, maintain configuration, and oversee environment scheduling and coexistence.
In addition, you'll need good collaboration and stakeholder management skills and experience of using virtualisation and cloud adoption models.
Furthermore, you'll need:
- Experience in governing non-production environments by defining strategy, managing processes for provisioning and deployment, and ensuring data governance across environments and interfaces
- Experience in onboarding new functionality and interfaces by building connectivity, mapping across environments, coordinating provisioning and support, managing testing and data alignment will be beneficial
- Excellent communication skills, coupled with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to colleagues, including management level
- Knowledge of Agile and Prince 2 tools and methodologies spanning value stream, portfolio platform and feature team levels
- An understanding of operational principles
