Experience: Minimum 5 Years

Support Level: L2

Location: Pune

Shift: 24*7 (Night shifts included)

Position: Permanent

Job Summary:

The Backup Administrator will be responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining enterprise backup and recovery solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication and Commvault. The role focuses on ensuring data protection, availability, and disaster recovery readiness across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Backup & Recovery Management

  • Configure, monitor, and maintain Veeam and Commvault backup infrastructure for physical and virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V).

  • Create and manage backup policies, schedules, retention rules, and replication jobs.
  • Perform daily backup health checks, resolve job failures, and ensure backup success rates within defined SLAs.
  • Execute restore operations file-level, VM, and full-system recovery.

  • Conduct backup validation and DR testing on a regular basis.

  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Identify and resolve issues related to storage, agents, repositories, and backup performance.

  • Work closely with server, storage, and network teams to ensure optimal backup configurations.

  • Coordinate with vendors (Veeam / Commvault support) for issue resolution and patch updates.

  • Reporting & Documentation

  • Generate and maintain backup reports, logs, and dashboards.

  • Maintain runbooks, process documents, and DR plans.

  • Support audit and compliance requirements related to data protection.

  • Infrastructure Optimization

  • Manage and monitor backup storage utilization and capacity planning.

  • Optimize backup performance (deduplication, compression, network usage).
  • Implement best practices for backup data retention, immutability, and security.
