Role Summary
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering sports and physical education programs for students. The role ensures students develop physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship through structured activities and training sessions.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Coaching
- Conduct regular PET classes for students as per the school curriculum.
- Teach basic skills in sports such as athletics, football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, etc.
- Plan age-appropriate physical fitness activities and warm-up routines.
- Provide coaching for school sports teams and prepare them for competitions.
2. Student Development
- Encourage students to participate in physical activities and improve overall fitness.
- Identify students' strengths and provide personalized guidance.
- Teach teamwork, discipline, fair play, and sports ethics.
3. Planning & Curriculum
- Prepare lesson plans, sports schedules, and activity charts.
- Assist in organising sports days, inter-house competitions, and tournaments.
- Maintain PE equipment and ensure safety during sports activities.
4. Safety & Discipline
- Ensure students follow safety rules and use sports equipment correctly.
- Monitor student behavior during PET classes and maintain discipline.
5. Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain records of attendance, performance, and sports achievements.
- Coordinate with academic teachers, school management, and parents when needed.
Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and training programs.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of physical fitness and sports techniques
- Ability to teach multiple sports
- Good communication and classroom management skills
- Energetic, patient, and student-friendly
- Basic first-aid knowledge (added advantage)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed) or M.P.Ed
- Freshers with B.P.Ed are eligible
- Experience of 0–3 years in teaching or sports coaching
Additional Requirements (Optional)
- Experience in school-level coaching
- Participation in district/state/national-level sports will be an advantage
- Ability to manage school sports events
