Job Brief

The Structural Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design and review of structural systems for buildings, infrastructure and other civil engineering projects. The role involves ensuring the structural safety, stability and economy of designs, coordinating with other engineering disciplines and providing technical support during execution.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design & Analysis:

  2. Perform structural analysis and design of RCC, steel and composite structures.

  3. Develop and review design calculations, models and drawings.
  4. Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards and project specifications (e.g., IS, ACI, BS, Eurocode).
  5. Optimize design solutions considering safety, cost and constructability.

  6. Conduct load calculations, foundation design and connection detailing.

  7. Drawing & Documentation:

  8. Prepare and review structural drawings, GFC (Good for Construction) documents and shop drawings.

  9. Coordinate with drafting teams to ensure accuracy of drawings and detailing.

  10. Maintain a comprehensive design documentation package, including revisions and approvals.

  11. Coordination & Interface:

  12. Collaborate with architectural, MEP and civil teams to ensure design integration.

  13. Attend design coordination meetings and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.
  14. Provide technical support to project and site teams during construction.

  15. Review and approve vendor designs and subcontractor submissions.

  16. Site Support & Quality Assurance:

  17. Conduct site visits to verify structural implementation as per drawings.

  18. Provide guidance for design modifications, RFI clarifications and material substitutions.

  19. Assist in resolving structural issues, non-conformities and technical deviations.

  20. Reporting & Compliance:

  21. Prepare and present design progress reports and technical summaries.

  22. Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards in design.
  23. Support the preparation of structural design basis reports (DBR) and method statements.

6.Software Skills:

  • Design: STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Tekla Structural Designer
  • Drafting: AutoCAD, Revit (Structural), or BIM tools (preferred).

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of structural design principles, load analysis and material behavior.
  • Strong grasp of building codes (IS 456, IS 800, IS 875, IS 1893, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Strong coordination, communication and documentation skills.
