Role & Responsibilities:
Equipment Management and Maintenance:
· Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of medical equipment and devices used in geriatric care, including diagnostic imaging systems, patient monitoring devices, mobility aids, and therapeutic equipment.
· Conduct routine inspections and performance tests to identify equipment malfunctions or deficiencies, promptly addressing issues to minimize downtime and ensure patient safety.
· Collaborate with manufacturers, vendors, and service technicians to troubleshoot complex equipment problems and coordinate repair or replacement as needed.
Technology Integration and Innovation:
· Evaluate emerging technologies and medical devices relevant to geriatric healthcare, assessing their potential applications and benefits for patient care and clinical workflows.
· Participate in the design, development, and implementation of customized medical solutions tailored to the specific needs and challenges of elderly patients, such as assistive devices, remote monitoring systems, and mobility aids.
· Conduct research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety, effectiveness, and accessibility of medical technology in geriatric care, contributing to advancements in patient outcomes and quality of life.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:
· Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry guidelines, and hospital policies governing the procurement, use, and maintenance of medical equipment and technology.
· Implement quality assurance protocols and performance metrics to monitor the reliability, accuracy, and efficacy of biomedical systems, taking proactive measures to address deviations and improve overall service delivery.
· Provide technical expertise and support during regulatory inspections, accreditation audits, and compliance reviews, demonstrating adherence to established standards of practice and ethical conduct.
Training and Education:
· Develop and deliver training programs for hospital staff, clinicians, and support personnel on the safe and effective use of medical equipment, technology, and related procedures.
· Provide ongoing education and technical support to interdisciplinary teams involved in geriatric care, promoting proficiency in equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
· Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the hospital environment, empowering healthcare professionals to leverage biomedical technology to optimize patient care and clinical outcomes.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrators, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and technology integration in geriatric healthcare delivery.
· Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to understand clinical needs, prioritize equipment requirements, and facilitate the implementation of evidence-based solutions.
· Cultivate strong partnerships with external vendors, research institutions, and professional organizations to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience: Previous experience in biomedical engineering, medical device technology, or healthcare technology management, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, as well as familiarity with biomedical software applications and data analysis tools.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory requirements and standards governing medical devices and healthcare technology, such as FDA regulations, ISO standards, and Joint Commission accreditation.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to analyze data, evaluate performance metrics, and develop evidence-based recommendations for process improvement.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing to achieve common goals in geriatric care.
