Job Title: 1st Assistant Camera (First AC)

Location: Pune / On-set

Type: Full-time

Experience: 3+ years required

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced 1st Assistant Camera (AC) who can confidently manage camera gear, operate cameras when needed, pull perfect focus, and support the cinematographer on all shoots. You should also have a strong understanding of basic lighting setups.

Key Responsibilities

Pull accurate focus during all shots (tracking, handheld, gimbal, long takes).

Assist the DOP in camera operation whenever required.

Handle the full camera setup: lenses, filters, rigs, balancing, and accessories.

Manage and maintain all camera equipment on set.

Set actor marks and ensure smooth focus marking.

Prepare batteries, media cards, backups, and camera reports.

Coordinate closely with DOP for shot prep and technical needs.

Support basic lighting setups (key light, fill, backlight, practicals).

Help rig lights, stands, and modifiers, and ensure lighting gear is safe.

Troubleshoot camera or lighting issues quickly on set.

Manage clapperboard operations when required.

Guide 2nd AC and camera interns.

Skills Required

Strong experience with professional cinema cameras (ARRI, RED, Sony FX series, and Blackmagic).

Good command over camera operation and shot execution.

Excellent focus-pulling skills.

Understanding of lenses, filters, matte boxes, and wireless follow-focus systems.

Knowledge of basic lighting: placement, intensity, colour, safety, and quick setups.

Ability to work fast and stay calm on high-pressure sets.

Good communication and teamwork.

Proper set etiquette and professionalism.

Good to Have

Gimbal experience (Ronin / Movi).

DIT basics (data backup, proxy workflows).

Understanding of advanced lighting gear (Aputure, Godox, Nanlux, SkyPanels).

Education

Film school preferred but not required.

Strong on-set experience is more important.
