PCF System Test Engineer (5G Core)

About The Role
We are seeking a skilled PCF System Test Engineer with hands-on experience in 5G Core network function (NF) testing, particularly the Policy Control Function (PCF). The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing end-to-end system testing, building cloud-native test environments, and developing automated test solutions. This role requires strong expertise in Kubernetes-based deployments, automation, and DevOps practices to ensure high-quality, scalable, and reliable 5G Core solutions.

Key Responsibilities
PCF & 5G Core Testing :

  • Plan, design, and execute end-to-end system testing for the Policy Control Function (PCF) within 5G Core networks.
  • Validate PCF functionality, performance, and stability in alignment with 3GPP standards.
  • Perform testing across various 5G Core Network Functions (NFs) and their interactions.
  • Identify, document, and track defects while working closely with development and architecture teams for resolution.

Cloud-Native & Kubernetes Environment

  • Deploy, configure, and manage PCF and related NFs using Kubernetes.
  • Utilize Docker containers for building and maintaining test environments.
  • Manage orchestration, scaling, and lifecycle of test deployments in cloud-native environments.
  • Troubleshoot Kubernetes-related issues affecting system performance and stability.

Test Automation & CI/CD

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.
  • Ensure automated tests are reliable, scalable, and provide meaningful coverage.
  • Analyze test results and improve automation frameworks for efficiency and maintainability.

DevOps & Cloud-Native Practices

  • Work closely with DevOps teams to align testing with cloud-native and CI/CD best practices.
  • Apply DevOps principles to improve test execution, deployment speed, and quality.
  • Monitor system behavior and test execution in cloud-based environments.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes and infrastructure.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience in 5G Core Network Function (NF) testing, with specific exposure to PCF preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for deployment and orchestration.
  • Solid understanding of Docker and container-based application deployment.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and/or Bash.
  • Experience integrating test automation with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, practices, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
