Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will be responsible for managing all aspects of contractual and financial elements in civil construction projects. The role involves cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, and ensuring the project is completed within approved budgets while maintaining quality and compliance with legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Cost Estimation & Budgeting
Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects during tendering and execution phases.
Analyze drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities (BOQs) to determine project costs.
Develop and update project cost plans and budgets.
Preparation of BBS (Bar Bending Schedules)
Tendering & Procurement
Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, BOQs, and other documentation.
Invite, analyze, and negotiate tenders from contractors and suppliers.
Liaise with procurement teams to ensure cost-effective material sourcing.
Measurement & Valuation
Carry out quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
Conduct site measurements and prepare interim valuations for progress payments.
Prepare and certify payment bills for contractors and subcontractors.
Cost Control & Reporting
Monitor project costs to ensure they are within the budget.
Prepare cost variance reports and advise on cost-saving measures.
Track material usage and wastage to control costs.
Contract Management
Assist in contract negotiations and drafting.
Interpret contract terms and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Handle claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and clients for smooth execution.
Attend project meetings and provide financial and contractual advice.
Maintain records of all correspondence, variations, and project documents.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
Experience:
3–8 years of relevant QS experience in the civil engineering/construction sector (infrastructure, buildings, roads, bridges, etc.).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, rate analysis, and construction costing.
Familiarity with Indian Standard Methods of Measurement (IS 1200) and relevant IS codes.
Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and QS software (e.g., Candy, CostX).
Understanding of contract types (FIDIC, CPWD, EPC, etc.).
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
