Job Title: Design Engineer – Furniture IndustryDepartment: Design & DevelopmentReports To: Design Manager / Technical HeadJob Purpose:

To design and develop innovative, functional, and cost-effective furniture products by combining creativity with technical expertise in materials, production processes, and ergonomics. Ensure designs meet customer requirements, quality standards, and manufacturing feasibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for furniture products using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the sales/marketing team to convert client requirements into design concepts and prototypes.
  • Select suitable materials (wood, metal, laminates, upholstery, etc.) based on functionality, aesthetics, and cost.
  • Prepare cutting lists, BOMs (Bill of Materials), assembly instructions, and technical documentation for production.
  • Ensure designs comply with ergonomics, safety standards, and durability requirements.
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve design or fabrication issues.
  • Support R&D for developing new furniture ranges and innovative solutions.
  • Conduct design modifications to improve cost-effectiveness, ease of manufacturing, and quality.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware, fittings, and material specifications.
  • Review and approve final prototypes before mass production.
  • Stay updated with latest furniture design trends, materials, and technologies.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of woodworking, metal fabrication, joinery
  • Ability to create accurate technical drawings, layouts, and cutting lists.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
