System integration testing engineer (Cisco's DNAC or Nexus)

Work Mode: Remote

A system integration testing (SIT) engineer with experience in Cisco's DNAC or Nexus

platforms validates that network components and software applications function seamlessly together in a data center or large-scale enterprise environment. This role requires deep expertise in network automation, L2-L7 protocols, and a software-defined approach to networking.

Key responsibilities:

Strategy and automation:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, including functional, performance, and

interoperability testing for Cisco DNAC or Nexus-based solutions.

  • Design and build network automation workflows using tools like Python, Ansible, and REST APIs for automated testing and orchestration.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) to ensure continuous testing and integration of new network features.

Network testing and troubleshooting:

  • Set up and maintain complex network testbeds, including Cisco Nexus switches (e.g., Nexus 9000, 7000), fabrics, and DNAC servers.
  • Validate DNAC functionalities, including automated provisioning, policy enforcement, and assurance features.
  • Test data center network virtualization technologies, such as VXLAN on Nexus, and integrations with hypervisors like VMware.
  • Perform deep-level debugging and root-cause analysis for network and system integration failures.

Collaboration and documentation:

  • Work with cross-functional teams, including network architects and software developers, to define requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Document test procedures, test results, and defect reports, providing clear communication to all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with customer support and field engineers to understand real-world deployment scenarios and user requirements.

Required skills and qualifications:

Technical expertise:

  • Networking platforms: Hands-on experience with Cisco DNAC and/or Cisco Nexus data center switches (NX-OS, ACI).
  • Network protocols: Strong knowledge of L2-L7 protocols, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, and Segment Routing.
  • Automation: Advanced scripting and automation skills, primarily in Python, along with proficiency in REST APIs and tools like Ansible.
  • Linux and Virtualization: Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, containers).
  • Testing tools: Experience with network traffic generators, analyzers, and defect tracking systems like Jira.
