Key Responsibilities:

  • Tool Design & Development:

  • Design deep drawing tools/dies using SolidWorks.

  • Collaborate with vendors for tool manufacturing and proving.

  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Costing & Procurement:

  • Prepare cost estimates and analyze supplier quotations.

  • Develop negotiation strategies and conduct supplier negotiations.

  • Generate innovative VA/VE cost proposals.

  • Process Knowledge:

  • Understand automotive stamping, welding, assembly, and coating processes.

  • Work with High Tensile and Ultra High Tensile steel parts.

  • Familiarity with welding fixtures for sheet metal Products.

  • Innovation & Optimization:

  • Drive cost and weight reduction initiatives.

  • Propose new technologies and process improvements.

  • Take ownership of features from design to deployment.

  • Collaboration:

  • Work with manufacturing engineers and machinists to understand production needs and ensure design manufacturability.

Required Competencies:

Functional:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (Sheet Metal module).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, fabrication, casting, forging, sheet metal, and assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T knowledge is a plus).
  • Familiarity with cost estimation tools and PLM systems.
  • Understanding of cycle times and process flows in sheet metal fabrication.

Managerial:

  • Ability to plan and schedule activities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with peers, vendors, and machine makers.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  • Team-oriented mindset with sound integrity and professionalism.
