Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Senior BI Data Architect is responsible for providing development support for SQL, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS. The individual will work with other development teams such as MS D365, Power BI to ensure maximum application performance and availability. Must have clear communication and work alongside leadership, project managers, software engineers/architects, application developers (.NET) and end users on database development and modifications.

• Develops and maintains databases by determining structural requirements, data integration, and the means to get to the data, developing and installing solutions
• Primarily responsible for the development of SQL data marts, defining database physical structure and ensuring data integrity and functional capabilities.
• Determines appropriate SQL database structural requirements by analyzing operations, applications, programming; and B.I. project objectives.
• Conceive long range Data Warehouse picture, maps the systems and interfaces used to manage data, sets standards for data management, analyzes current state and conceives desired future state, and able to emphasize methodology, modeling, and governance.
• Develops complicated views, stored procedures, implementing appropriate index strategies and query tuning to enhance database performance.
• Writing complex/ efficient SQL queries for data analysis and profiling
• Design/ provide support to create new data models on EDW.
• Develop SSIS solutions to handle external files, connect to other source SQL Server databases.
• Develop SSAS cubes, troubleshoot any issues in existing SSAS solutions.
• Provide documentation of any development work in both technical and business terms.
• Responsible for support, maintenance, training for any metadata tools.
• Maintains technical documentation for all packages, descriptions of the data and data structures including data definitions, metadata, data models, and data flow diagrams.
• Works closely with PowerBI developers and SQL DBAs to ensure database performance, by identifying/resolving production and app development issues.
• Coordinate with SQL DBAs to ensure security and backup policies are implemented and maintained on new objects in accordance with company standards.
• Provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.
• Supports PowerBI Citizen developers to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the available data and provide updates as needed.
• Assists with design of Business and Presentation layers.

Education:

Bachelors degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.

Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in advanced SQL development for BI.
• Strong understanding of data warehouse and business intelligence concepts and best practice methodologies.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in gathering requirements and developing data warehouse solutions for Business Intelligence.
• Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience with various ETL, metadata and reporting tools.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills are necessary for this position.
• Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience with SQL Server and allied tools.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with performance tuning & optimization.
• Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience with source control systems.
• Experience with data modeling.
• Experience with guiding development teams on T-SQL coding and best practices.
• Database administration experience is a plus.
• Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
• Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• PowerBI experience is a plus.
• Power Apps, Data Verse experience is a plus.
• Experience or conversant in emerging tools like columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data a plus.
• Healthcare experience is a plus.
