We are looking for a
GIS Mapping & Analysis Consultant
to strengthen our geospatial planning, analysis, and visualization capabilities across diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead GIS-based
    spatial planning, analysis, and mapping
    across UWBe programs.
  • Compile and process
    spatial and non-spatial datasets
    from government portals, open-source platforms, and field surveys.
  • Prepare
    baseline datasets
    (LULC, DEM, water bodies, infrastructure, vegetation).
  • Conduct
    thematic mapping
    (watershed delineation, zoning, risk/vulnerability assessment, heat maps).
  • Perform
    advanced spatial analysis
    (buffering, terrain & slope studies, hydrological modeling).
  • Design and maintain
    interactive dashboards and web maps
    for project teams and donors.
  • Manage
    geo-tagged data, documentation, and metadata catalogues
    .
  • Build GIS capacity by
    training staff
    and ensuring effective integration into project planning and monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (M.Sc./M.Tech) in
    Geoinformatics, GIS & Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science, Urban & Regional Planning, NRM
    or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree with significant GIS experience may also be considered.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in
    ArcGIS and QGIS
    (mandatory); ERDAS Imagine desirable.
  • Strong experience in
    remote sensing
    (LULC, DEM, satellite imagery) and spatial analysis.
  • Familiarity with
    Bhuvan, NRSC, OpenStreetMap, NASA/ESA datasets
    .
  • Hands-on experience with
    web mapping and dashboards
    (ArcGIS Online, Google Earth Engine, PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Strong command of
    geospatial data formats
    (Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML, raster).
  • Basic programming skills in
    Python, R, SQL, or JavaScript
    (desirable).
  • Strong ability in
    analysis, visualization, and technical reporting
    .

Preferred Attributes

  • Prior experience applying GIS in
    development sectors
    (education, health, water, urban planning).
  • Knowledge of
    hydrology, ecology, or land resource management
    .
  • Ability to communicate findings effectively to both
    technical and non-technical audiences
    .
