Project Engineer - Electrical Design

Team/Division

EES EITC – Chennai/Bangalore.

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join our team with strong expertise in Electrical System Design for LV Power Distribution panels. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving new product development, ensuring compliance with international standards to deliver high-quality solutions.

Job Description:

• Develop comprehensive schematics and layouts for low-voltage (LV) electrical panel and sub stations.
• Drive end-to-end development of new products, from concept to commercialization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications, ensure manufacturability, and meet project goals.
• Ensure designs adhere to international standards such as IEC, AS/NZS 3000.
• Work with certification bodies to obtain necessary product approvals. Nice to Have.
• Circuit Breaker, Transformer, Contactor, Relays, CT & PT, Bus Bar Sizing, ELCB and RCCB selection.
• Perform Load Flow Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis and Arc Flash for different products from time to time
• Prepare engineering documents, including wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and bills of materials (BOM).
• Create and manage design validation reports and testing documentation.
• Plan and execute testing and validation of electrical systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance.
• Analyse test results and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
• Onsite support during proto-typing and testing

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical system design and development, with significant exposure to electrical substation LV panel design

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering

Knowledge Requirement:

• Strong knowledge of IEC 61439 international standard
• Hands-on experience with low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies, including electrical panels, motor control centres and component sizing.
• Proficient in electrical design tools and simulation software (ETAP, MATLAB Simulink, etc).
• Electrical Testing &Validation.
• Electrical product assembly & integration.
• PLC Programming. Nice to have.
