Role: Principal Architect

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly accomplished Principal Architect – DevOps, DevSecOps & SRE to lead the design and evolution of next-generation engineering platforms. This role combines deep hands-on engineering expertise with strategic architecture leadership, driving scalable, secure, and reliable software delivery across a multi-cloud enterprise landscape.

You will architect reusable frameworks, modernize engineering practices, contribute to client solutioning, and guide teams across multiple business units. The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect, not a pre-sales-only profile.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Platform Engineering

• Architect and evolve core DevOps, SRE, and DevSecOps platforms delivering CI/CD, observability, and infra-automation as shared services.
• Define enterprise standards for infra provisioning release orchestration, monitoring, incident management, and FinOps-driven cost optimization.
• Build reusable frameworks, SDKs, developer tools, and accelerator kits to drive adoption across units.
• Ensure platform scalability and multi-cloud readiness (AWS, Azure, GCP), aligned to enterprise security and compliance.
• Lead architecture reviews, solution designs, and POCs for engineering modernization initiatives.

2. DevOps & DevSecOps Strategy

• Define enterprise-wide CI/CD blueprints and governance models.
• Architect GitOps, Policy-as-Code, and Security-as-Code patterns for automated, compliant delivery pipelines.
• Embed security scanning, compliance checks, and vulnerability governance into workflows.
• Evaluate and integrate modern DevOps/SecOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux, Vault, Trivy, OPA, etc.).

3. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

• Establish SRE principles—SLOs, SLIs, error budgets—across engineering teams.
• Drive automation for auto-healing, chaos testing, resilience engineering, and incident prevention.
• Architect enterprise observability strategies using Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry, ELK, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
• Champion chaos engineering, performance optimization, and proactive capacity planning.

4. Solutioning & Pre-Sales Support

• Lead technical solution design for RFPs/RFIs with architecture blueprints, estimation, and value positioning.
• Partner with sales/delivery teams to craft scalable DevOps, SRE, and platform modernization solutions.
• Build POCs, demos, and automation showcases including AIOps integrations.
• Represent the practice in client discussions, due diligence, and architecture presentations.

5. Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor DevOps, SRE, and platform architects across the organization.
• Align strategy with Product Engineering, Security, and Cloud COEs.
• Contribute to the Engineering Excellence and platform modernization roadmap.
• Establish reusable design patterns and best practices driving scalability and consistency.

Key Skills & Competencies

1. Technical Expertise

• Strong hands-on cloud-native experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), containers, and infra-automation.
• Proficiency in IaC (Terraform, Pulumi) and config management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Strong CI/CD expertise (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitLab CI, Spinnaker).
• Experience with DevSecOps tools: Vault, Snyk, SonarQube, Trivy, Checkov, Aqua.
• Strong coding skills – Python, Go, and Bash.
• Exposure to AIOps/ML (anomaly detection, alert correlation).

2. Architectural & Strategic Skills

• Proven experience defining platform engineering and automation roadmaps.
• Strong system design and distributed systems expertise.
• Solid understanding of modern software culture: "You build it, you run it."
• Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization.

3. Pre-Sales & Client Engagement

• Strong RFP/RFI solutioning, architecture deck creation, and client presentation experience.
• Expertise in POC creation, architecture accelerators, and modernization frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement with senior engineering and C-level leaders.

4. Leadership & Communication

• Demonstrated thought leadership in DevOps/SRE platform architecture.
• Ability to mentor teams and influence enterprise-level adoption.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 15–18 years in IT Services with strong architecture leadership in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.

• Technical Expertise:

• Deep Azure experience (IaaS, PaaS, DaaS, Integration).

• Strong background in microservices, APIs, event-driven systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
• Solid experience in observability, chaos engineering, and performance engineering.
• Exposure to AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) is an advantage.
