Job Description:

A "Head of ERP" job description typically entails overseeing the entire Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system within an organization, including its design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization, by leading a team of ERP specialists, collaborating with various departments to identify business needs, and ensuring the system aligns with strategic goals and operational efficiency; key responsibilities include system architecture design, data migration, integration with other systems, user training, and staying updated on the latest ERP technologies to recommend improvements. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning:
    • Define the overall ERP strategy, aligning it with business objectives and future growth plans. 
       
    • Evaluate and recommend new ERP solutions or upgrades based on evolving business needs. 
       
    • Lead the selection process for ERP vendors and manage vendor relationships. 
       



  • Implementation and Deployment:
    • Oversee the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of the ERP system across all modules. 
       
    • Manage data migration and cleansing processes to ensure accurate data within the ERP system. 
       
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into functional specifications for the ERP system. 
       



  • System Maintenance and Optimization:
    • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency. 
       
    • Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure compatibility and security. 
       
    • Address user issues and provide technical support. 
       



  • Team Leadership:
    • Build and lead a high-performing team of ERP specialists, including functional analysts, technical consultants, and system administrators. 
       
    • Provide mentorship and training to team members on new ERP functionalities and best practices. 
       



  • User Training and Support:
    • Develop comprehensive user training programs to ensure employees effectively utilize the ERP system. 
       
    • Provide ongoing support to users, addressing queries and resolving system-related issues. 
       



  • Compliance and Security:
    • Ensure adherence to industry regulations and data privacy standards within the ERP system. 
       
    • Monitor system access controls and maintain data security measures. 
       




Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and their functionalities across various modules (finance, sales, inventory, HR) 
     
  • Proven experience in managing ERP implementations and upgrades 
     
  • Strong project management skills to oversee complex ERP projects 
     
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities to collaborate with different departments 
     
  • Technical proficiency in system integration, data analysis, and reporting 
     
  • Business acumen to understand business processes and translate them into ERP requirements 
     
  • Leadership skills to motivate and guide a team of ERP specialists
