Position Overview:

  • We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our infrastructure team in managing and modernizing our hybrid infrastructure environment. This position requires an experienced engineer with deep expertise in VMware, Hyper-V, and Azure cloud platforms. You will play a critical role in infrastructure projects and migrations while working to optimize our 30/70 on-premises to cloud workload distribution. Reporting directly to the VP of IT and DevOps, you will collaborate with Infrastructure Architects, DevOps/SRE teams, and fellow Infrastructure Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead infrastructure projects including migrations from cloud to on-premises and cloud to cloud environments.
  • Manage and optimize VMware and Hyper-V environments spanning 400+ VMs.
  • Design and implement Azure infrastructure solutions including VMs, networking, and storage.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for automated provisioning and management.
  • Evaluate and implement infrastructure management tools to replace/enhance current Morpheus deployment.
  • Ensure backup and disaster recovery strategies are implemented and tested regularly.
  • Collaborate with DevOps/SRE teams on Kubernetes container workload infrastructure.
  • Share network infrastructure responsibilities with the infrastructure team.
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and implement improvements for reliability and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure architecture and processes.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure issues.
  • Provide technical guidance on infrastructure best practices and standards

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge of VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V platforms.
  • Strong experience managing hybrid workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure infrastructure services (VMs, VNets, Storage, Load Balancers).
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Strong automation and scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Solid experience with both Windows Server and Linux operating systems, with emphasis on Windows.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Must be able to read and speak fluently in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure certifications (Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect).
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher.
  • Experience with Morpheus or similar cloud management platforms.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Background in security compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Work Environment:

  • Must be available for occasional meetings across global time zones.
  • On-call rotation participation required for critical infrastructure issues.
