Summary

As a Lead Test Engineer you will join our highly skilled Product team, working on the cloud hosted

and on prep Suite. As part of a cross functional scrum team, working in conjunction with

our internal and external customers, you will test new Product features, expand existing automated

test content aligned with best practices and ensuring optimal adherence to test pyramid levels. You

will innovate and propose improvements while also mentoring more junior testers and automation

practitioners.

All our Test engineers work closely and collaborate with other testers, developers, analysts, product

owners and other specialists across product, adhering to our standards and processes.

Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Analyzing feature documents and other related material to ensure the optimal test

approach is taken to ensure acceptance criteria are met.

• Tests will include both manual (scripted and exploratory) and automation
• Test coverage should include:
• End user business requirements
• NFRs; performance, accessibility and security
• Optimal automation approach for speed, cost & maintainability
• Work with peers within the client organization to ensure a successful delivery

• Working with a dedicated developers, analysts and architects to ensure high test design

and automation standards are practiced across the Product Engineering (PE) dept.

• Maintenance and creation of automated tests, particularly End-to-end, Front-end and

Integration tests

• Executing, analyzing, triaging automated testing during Continuous Testing for major

releases

• Platform testing of on-premise and cloud-hosted environments
• Pen testing and continuous security testing
• Mentoring of less experienced staff where appropriate e.g. automation design best

practices, peer review of designs, code and tests.

• Compile and review estimates around all test aspects of a solution

Education and/or Experience

• Minimum of 8 to10 years post qualification experience in a software test engineering role

with exposure to the full SDLC, preferably on enterprise scale systems

• A relevant third level qualification or equivalent commercial experience
• Experience with Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)
• Experience with SQL, and data model design, with exposure to working on relational

databases

• Exposure to testing on Java applications servers (JBoss or Tomcat)
• Experience of full test pyramid (unit, integration tests, front-end)
• Experience working within and Agile methodology
• Strong experience in the design and creation of automated tests

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Ability to identify, deliver and drive improvements and innovations within the development

area.

• Exposure to pen testing tools, e.g. BURP suite
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as OWASP

Technical Skills

• JAVA development skills
• Tools: Junit, Cucumber, Spock, Gradle, Jenkins, Eclipse, GIT, Jest, Selenium Webdriver,

Docker

• IT background in the insurance sector would be an advantageMulti-platform skills

(Linux/Unix/Windows) would be an advantage

• Experience/exposure to AWS or other Cloud technologies desirable
• JavaScript experience and knowledge of React framework would be an advantage

Language Skills

• Ability to speak the English language proficiently, both verbally and in writing.
