Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with expertise in plastics processing machinery to design, develop, and improve Blow Moulding Machines (IBM/IM/BM).

The role requires strong knowledge of mechanical design, CAD modeling, tooling, and manufacturing processes, along with an understanding of plastic materials and machine functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Design & Development

  • Design new blow moulding & Injection moulding machine models.

  • Prepare 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.

  • Optimize machine components for efficiency, cost reduction, and durability.

  • Product Improvement

  • Modify and upgrade existing machine designs based on performance feedback.

  • Work on energy-efficient, automation-ready, and safety-compliant designs.

  • Technical Support

  • Coordinate with production, quality, and service teams for smooth implementation.

  • Provide design inputs during prototyping, testing, and installation.

  • Documentation & Standards

  • Prepare technical documentation, design calculations, and machine manuals.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO, CE, BIS, and safety standards.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work with electrical, electronics, and automation teams to integrate PLC/servo systems.

  • Interact with vendors for critical components (hydraulics, pneumatics, extrusion screws, moulds, etc.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience: 510 years (Senior level) in machine design, preferably plastics machinery.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX; knowledge of simulation/FEA tools (ANSYS, HyperMesh) preferred.

  • Technical Knowledge:

  • Plastic processing (HDPE).

  • Extrusion systems, mould design, hydraulics, pneumatics.

  • Mechanical strength calculations, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-up.

  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and documentation skills.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timely release of design drawings and BOMs.
  • Successful prototyping and testing of new machine designs.
  • Reduction in design errors and production rework.
  • Cost optimization and machine efficiency improvements.
