Workday Finance Lead

Experience- 8+ Years

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workday Finance Team Lead to join our Finance Transformation team. This role will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of Workday Financial Management solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep Workday Finance expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to partner with Finance, Technology, and other cross-functional teams to drive value from our Workday investment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead a team of Workday Finance functional consultants and analysts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Workday Financials strategy, governance, and operations.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, and IT leadership to align system capabilities with business goals.
  • Own the roadmap for Workday Financials, driving continuous improvement and optimization initiatives.

Workday System Ownership

  • Oversee the configuration, administration, and maintenance of Workday Financial modules such as:

  • Financial Accounting (GL, AP, AR)

  • Business Assets
  • Customer Accounts
  • Expenses
  • Projects
  • Procurement
  • Supplier Accounts

  • Financial Planning (Adaptive Insights or Workday Planning)

  • Manage system upgrades, new feature adoption, and module implementations.

  • Monitor Workday Community, new releases, and best practices to recommend enhancements.

Project Management

  • Lead Workday Finance projects including implementations, enhancements, and integrations.
  • Coordinate with PMO for timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party implementation partners when necessary.

Team & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide team members, ensuring high-quality deliverables and continuous skill development.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and design discussions with Finance stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain functional documentation, user guides, and training materials.

Issue Management & Support

  • Oversee day-to-day support for Workday Financials, including issue resolution and service requests.
  • Ensure data integrity, system audits, and compliance with financial policies and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience with Workday Financials, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Hands-on experience in at least 3 core Workday Finance modules.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial operations.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience with Workday reporting tools (e.g., custom reports, dashboards, calculated fields).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
