Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operations

  • Supervise daily mining, drilling, blasting, loading, and transportation activities.
  • Ensure targeted production is achieved with optimum utilization of men and machinery.
  • Monitor crusher feed and maintain coordination between quarry and crusher team.
  • Maintain benches, haul roads, and faces as per DGMS safety standards.

2. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce Mines Act, DGMS rules, Metalliferous Mines Regulations (MMR 1961), and other applicable laws.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections — check slopes, benches, and working conditions.
  • Ensure blasting practices follow approved blasting plan and safety protocols.
  • Maintain proper record of accidents, near-misses, and corrective actions.

3. Statutory Record-Keeping

  • Maintain statutory registers:
  • Form B (Production & Dispatch Register)
  • Explosive Consumption Register
  • Machinery & Maintenance Log
  • Attendance & Wage Registers
  • Ensure all DGMS reports, returns, and inspections are properly documented.

4. People & Coordination

  • Supervise drillers, blasters, operators, and helpers, ensuring discipline and safety.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings before shifts.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and electrical teams to minimize breakdowns.
  • Act as a liaison with local authorities, DGMS inspectors, and company management.

5. Environmental & Sustainability

  • Ensure dust suppression, controlled blasting, and safe waste dump management.
  • Monitor water usage, drainage, and greenbelt development.
  • Support compliance with environmental clearance conditions.

Requirements

  • Valid Mines Foreman Certificate of Competency (DGMS approved).
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in quarrying, mining, or crusher operations.
  • Knowledge of drilling, blasting techniques, mine planning, and safety practices.
  • Familiarity with statutory record-keeping and DGMS inspections.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to manage multi-skilled workforce.

  • Zero Fatalities / Zero Major Accidents – Strict enforcement of safety.
  • Statutory Compliance – 100% up-to-date registers and reports.
  • Production Targets – Consistently meet or exceed planned output.
  • Cost Control – Minimize wastage of explosives, fuel, and manpower.
  • Community & Environmental Relations – No legal or public complaints due to mining activities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in large-scale stone quarry or aggregates crusher.
  • Knowledge of DGMS online returns filing.
  • Familiarity with quarry planning software / GPS-based mine monitoring.
