Mechanical Head

The Mechanical Head will oversee all mechanical maintenance, repairs, and reliability improvement initiatives at the ethanol plant. This includes maintenance of process equipment (fermenters, distillation columns, decanters), utilities (boiler, turbine, pumps), and offsite systems (fuel handling, cooling towers). The role ensures high plant availability, adherence to preventive maintenance schedules, and cost-effective spare parts management.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance schedules for all rotating and static equipment.
• Supervise shutdown and breakdown maintenance, ensuring quick root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain critical spares inventory and ensure timely replenishment.
• Track equipment health KPIs (MTBF, MTTR) and take proactive measures to improve uptime.
• Suggest and implement engineering modifications to reduce recurring failures and enhance efficiency.
• Monitor vibration analysis, lubrication schedules, and alignment checks.
  
  Work closely with process, boiler, and electrical teams to plan maintenance without affecting production targets.
• Support project team in equipment installation, commissioning, and performance trials.
• Control maintenance cost within budget through optimized spare consumption and vendor contracts.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (IBR, safety standards).
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and submit MIS reports to Plant Head.
• Lead a team of mechanical engineers, fitters, and technicians, and conduct skill development training.

Qualification & Experience

• Education: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical) from a recognized institute.
• Experience: 20 years in mechanical maintenance of a distillery/chemical/process plant, with at least 5-6 years in a managerial role.
