Role summary

The Group Risk Management function is responsible for ensuring the development and maintenance of an adequate risk framework that enables management to deliver its strategy by balancing risk and rewards within the appetite approved by the Board. It is also responsible to ensure governance arrangements in place are adequate to effectively manage all risks of the Group. The risk function is a key contributor to the LSEG's successful delivery of its strategy.

The Data & Analytics Operations function is at the forefront of advancements in data, analytics, and financial markets workflow solutions. They drive continuous improvement of D&A's content and services, and strive to deliver comprehensive data, deeper insights, and an extensive suite of services that provide substantial value to our customers.

Based in Bangalore, this senior manager role will directly be providing oversight of our Data & Analytics Operations function. The risk coverage team provides risk advice and supports the co-ordination of reporting and analysis of their risk profile. This role represents the 2nd line of defence and is responsible for providing oversight of the risk management activity and strategic risk partnering for the Data & Analytics Operations function within Group COO. The role covers all aspects of Operational, Financial and Strategic risk from a 2nd Line of Defence perspective, giving exposure to all areas of the Group.

Specifically, this role will have exposure to various elements of data content operations, including Real-Time, Quant & Economic Data, Pricing & Reference Services, and News. This also includes LSEG's strategic partnerships for next-generation data and analytics, A.I. integration and cloud infrastructure solutions which was announced in December 2022. We're looking for candidates who are curious about our ambitious business and want to influence 'Safe Growth' in a rapidly changing industry.

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintaining oversight of risks for the Data & Analytics Operations function
  • Guidance during development and transition to future state exception based straight through processes
  • Identifying risks associated with the technical design and delivery of a new exception based straight through processes
  • Helping to evaluate risks across operations including BAU risks, transformation risks, programme change, incident analysis, and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
  • Driving the maturity of the Enterprise Risk Framework across the function
  • Maintaining positive relationships across all three lines of defence so that the risk framework has full endorsement from leadership and appropriately addresses their risk management needs
  • Supporting the First Line team in delivering and maintaining the Risk and Control Assessment (RCA), whilst providing effective and robust review and challenge, ensuring effective risk remediation actions are identified to address control vulnerabilities
  • Ensuring all risks identified as being outside appetite have remediation plans which are monitored through the relevant governance forums
  • Attending incident review meetings and providing trend analysis of incidents from a Second Line risk perspective
  • Conducting topical investigations to deliver fresh risk insights
  • Providing independent Second Line assessment of emerging and change risks associated with implementation of new process and major projects
  • Supporting First Line to gather controls to ensure a complete and accurate control inventory
  • Contributing to the collation and preparation of materials for risk reporting committees
  • Identifying and reporting risks to relevant committees, key business partners and senior leaders, providing expert advice and guidance in all matters relating to risk management for relevant areas
  • Analysing key risk indicators and management information for new insights
  • Collaborating as part of the D&A Operations Risk coverage team and across the broader Group Risk team, and engaging relevant partners in other Divisions, e.g. Business, Technology, Data Management, and Corporate functions

You'll bring:

  • 10+ years' experience working in Risk Management for organizations in the financial industry
  • Degree in Economics/Finance or similar field.
  • Experience in Non-Financial Risk Management (Technology / Data) with strategic technology change projects
  • Grounding in A.I. integration preferred
  • Demonstrable experience in Technology / Cloud / Data architecture
  • Credibility and expertise to influence at the senior management level, providing active challenge in senior forums and with partners
  • Good judgement with experience of balancing challenging factors to deliver optimal outcomes
  • Ability to translate risk analysis of the BAU, transitional and end-states into impactful risk language and distil key messages for discussion
  • Adaptability to work within a dynamic and ambitious business
