About A4I Lab

AI Innovation and Inclusion Initiative (A4I) is a partnership between Microsoft and IIIT-B, collaborating with non-profit partners to harness AI for solving real-world challenges in education, healthcare, accessibility, and agriculture. A4I evolves innovations into open-source Digital Public Goods (DPGs) that are deployable at scale, fostering a strong AI innovation ecosystem for social impact. 

What you'll do

We seek an experienced AI first Architect to join our core team in architecting, designing and developing large-scale, agentic AI solutions that deliver meaningful social impact. This role demands expertise in building intelligent agentic systems, orchestrating complex AI workflows, finetuning and polishing existing AI based responses and architecting scalable platforms that integrate LLMs, multi-modal inputs, and RAG-based architectures. You will play a key role in driving end-to-end innovation, from research and architecture to deployment, while providing technical leadership to cross-functional teams that include engineers, data scientists, and researchers from partner organizations. 

Must-have skills

  • Proven experience architecting and building agent-based systems using frameworks such as LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, Potpie, or equivalent
  • Strong expertise with LLMs (enterprise and open source) and RAG-based architectures.
  • Experience with multi-modal data processing, multilingual translation setup, vector stores, graph databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with MLOps, model deployment pipelines, containerization (Docker), and ML lifecycle orchestration.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in mentorship and driving architectural decisions
  • Strong Python Programming.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in CS/EE/Math or equivalent experience.
  • 6 to 8 years designing and building software with at least one live E2E agentic workload.
  • Track record of architecting and deploying large-scale AI platforms

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior work in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Fine-tuning or SLM adaptation; evaluation frameworks; VLMs and speech; Azure OpenAI + OSS (Llama/Mistral/Ollama) fluency.
