Location: Remote
Type: Full-Time
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as a subject matter expert for ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding. Perform daily coding of inpatient and/or outpatient records while maintaining quality and productivity standards. Review work completed by team members for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Provide real-time feedback, guidance, and coaching to coders on complex cases. Assist with onboarding and training of new coders. Help interpret coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory updates for the team. Identify trends, recurring errors, and documentation gaps, and escalate concerns as appropriate.
Collaborate with CDI, providers, and leadership to resolve coding questions and improve documentation quality. Support audits, quality initiatives, and performance improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
One or more of the following certifications required: CIC, CCS, COC, CPC. Minimum 35 years of recent medical coding experience. Strong proficiency in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS. Demonstrated experience handling complex coding scenarios.
Prior experience mentoring or supporting other coders preferred. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting a team.
