Role Overview

We seek an experienced Education Researcher to lead rigorous evaluations of education interventions. You will design and execute student-level assessments, classroom observations, and mixed-methods studies to generate actionable insights for scaling FLN reforms in Indian states. This role reports directly to the CEO and involves conducting fieldwork across various project sites.

Key Responsibilities

· Design and implement student-level assessments (e.g., learning outcome tools, standardized tests) aligned with NCERT frameworks and state curricula.

·  Conduct structured classroom observations using tools like Stallings, CLASS or custom rubrics to evaluate teaching practices and student engagement.

·  Lead quantitative evaluations (e.g., RCTs, quasi-experimental designs, regression analysis) using tools like Stata, R, or Python.

· Execute qualitative and process evaluations through interviews, FGDs, case studies, and thematic analysis (e.g., NVivo).

· Synthesize findings into reports, policy briefs, and presentations for government stakeholders and funders.

·  Collaborate with program teams to embed evaluation into intervention design and iterate based on evidence.

· Mentor junior researchers and manage data collection with field teams enumerators).

Required Qualifications & Experience

· Master's/PhD in Education, Economics, Statistics, or related field.

· 5+ years in K-12 education research, with proven expertise in student assessments (e.g., EGRA/EGMA, ASER, NAS) and classroom observation protocols.

· Strong track record in quantitative methods (e.g., impact evaluation, t-tests, panel data) and qualitative/process evaluations.

· Experience in Indian education contexts, ideally with state governments (e.g., UP, Bihar) or high-impact education nonprofits.

· Proficiency in data tools (Stata/R/SPSS, ) and survey platforms (SurveyCTO/Kobo).

· Excellent writing skills for reports and stakeholder communication.

Preferred Skills

· Familiarity with teacher professional development evaluations or foundational literacy/numeracy programs.

· Field experience managing large-scale data collection in low-resource settings.

· Knowledge of systems thinking for linking micro-level data to policy reforms.
