Job Title: Senior Back End Engineer

Experience Required: 3-7 Years

Location: Work From Home (Remote)

Employment Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python-based API services using frameworks such as FastAPI and Pyramid.
  • Dive into an existing Python codebase, understand its architecture, and deliver new features from concept to deployment.
  • Implement ETL pipelines and data aggregation workflows, including geospatial data processing using PostGIS, Pandas, and GeoPandas.
  • Apply best practices in software engineering, architecture, and security across backend systems.
  • Design and optimize OLTP and OLAP data models for scalability and performance.
  • Write and tune complex SQL queries for high-performance data access and analytics.
  • Develop and manage data processing workflows using Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
  • Containerize and deploy applications using Docker and Linux-based environments.
  • Collaborate with front-end and data teams to deliver seamless, high-performance integrations.
  • Maintain robust testing, documentation, and version control practices for all backend components.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3–7 years of professional experience in backend or full-stack development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python API frameworks (FastAPI, Pyramid, Flask, or Django).
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL workflows, and data transformation techniques.
  • Experience with Pandas and GeoPandas for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Docker for containerized development and deployment.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, security best practices, and scalable architecture design.
  • Experience working in Linux-based environments and with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills in a remote, collaborative setup.

Preferred Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience deploying and managing services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Luigi.
  • Exposure to data visualization or business intelligence tools.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
