Job Description (JD) – GNM Nurse

Project: Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) Project – Assam

Location: Cachar , Karimganj ,Hailakandi districts of Barak Valley , Assam

Reporting to: Medical Officer / Cluster Program Manager

Position Overview

The GNM Nurse will be responsible for providing nursing care, assisting the Medical Officer in clinical activities, ensuring patient safety, maintaining proper medical records, and supporting health awareness activities in the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). The role demands commitment to community health, with frequent travel to remote and underserved areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support & Nursing Care
  • Assist the Medical Officer during OPD consultations.
  • Provide first aid, wound dressing, immunization, injections, IV fluids, and other nursing procedures.
  • Maintain hygiene and infection control within the MMU.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, SpO₂, etc.).
  • Support maternal and child health services, antenatal & postnatal care.
  • Patient Care & Counseling
  • Guide patients regarding prescribed treatment, medicine usage, diet, and follow-up.
  • Provide basic counseling on preventive and promotive healthcare (nutrition, hygiene, family planning, etc.).
  • Assist in health awareness and health education activities during MMU visits.
  • Record Keeping & Documentation
  • Maintain daily patient register and nursing records.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, patient data entry, and submission to the Cluster Program Manager.
  • Ensure proper documentation of referrals and follow-ups.
  • Coordination & Support
  • Coordinate with Pharmacist, Lab Technician, and other MMU staff for smooth service delivery.
  • Ensure availability of essential medical supplies and consumables in the MMU.
  • Support outreach, community mobilization, and referral linkages with nearby health facilities.

Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration with State Nursing Council.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of work experience in clinical/primary healthcare settings (preferred).
  • Freshers with commitment to rural health may also apply.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹12, ₹19,000.00 per month
