Python Software Engineer

SmartStream is embarking on its most exciting journey in recent times.

We are seeking a Python engineer to creatively transform business requirements into new application components.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence others and to personally develop in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Involved in the complete product lifecycle from initial requirements definition, design, development and solution configuration through to deployment.
  • Design and implementation of Python libraries
  • Responsibility for developing scalable and robust solutions, which meet the high performance and availability standards of global financial institutions.
  • Challenging tasks with state-of-the-art technologies
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
  • International working environment

Key Skills

  • Expert level experience of Python programming skills
  • Expert knowledge of object-oriented design principles and patterns (functional programming is a plus)
  • Strong dedication and ability to writing clean and well-tested code
  • REST, Swagger/OpenAPI
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English

Desirable Skills

  • Good understanding of concurrency paradigms
  • Good knowledge of OS-level virtualization tool Docker and Kubernetes
  • Fluency in handling software-management tools such as Git
  • Fluency in using Integrated Development Environment, e.g. PyCharm
  • Experience with the Java programming language would be a bonus, but not expected

Qualifications

  • Engineering Graduate with Computer Science / Information Technology background or similar.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience
  • Experience developing in a software vendor environment is desirable but not required
  • Financial software experience would be a bonus, but is not expected
  • Experience as a Python software engineer is a must
