Lead Engineer Substation Electrical Design

Location: Gurgaon

Experience: 8 to 15 years

About the Role:

We are hiring a Lead Substation Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team working on utility-scale solar PV projects. In this role, you will lead the electrical design of HV/EHV AIS substations (66kV to 400kV), ensure compliance with international standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering outputs for solar power infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out HV/ EHV substation design and drawings for both AIS substations
  • Knowledge of standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI). Experience in substation designs from 66kV to 400kV EHV substation designs, Switchyard layouts, Switchyard equipment designs experience is must.
  • Shall be able to prepare/guide the design team to be able to prepare the SLD, general arrangement drawings, electrical layout, sections, EKD, DSLP, Earthing Layout, cable trench layout, switch yard illumination, cable schedule etc. Should be well versed with various busbar schemes.
  • Preparation of equipment specification, layout drawings and calculations (Short circuit force, Earthing, Direct lightning stroke protection, Conductor sizing, CT /CVT sizing, battery sizing etc.), sizing for the equipment designs.
  • Should be able to interface with control and protection requirements and knowledge of review of schemes is desirable
  • To prepare the detail bill of material of the system.
  • Preparation and review the Technical RFP with most cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with the cross functional teams to integrate solar systems into project.
  • Should be able to closely monitor the progress of work (both Projects as well as tender) of the design team. Should also ensure that the projects/tender deliverables are given on time, without delay.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to finalize the equipment.
  • Knowledge of Auto Cad software is must.
  • Knowledge of Software like ETAP, CDEGs etc. will be preferable.
  • Must be able to work independently for the jobs
  • Should be able to co-ordinate with civil design engineers wherever interfaces.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
