We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our Customer Identity team within Platform Engineering. Our team is responsible for Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM), focusing on identity-based user authentication and API security. We're building the future of Thomson Reuters' technology infrastructure using cloud-native solutions, including Kubernetes, Istio, and serverless architectures.
About the Role
In this opportunity as a Software Engineer-React you will:
- Participate actively in Scrum teams, embracing agile methodologies
- Collaborate with Software Engineers, Test Automation Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Product Owners and Scrum Masters
- Participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle: Ideation, Design, Build, Test and Operate
- Utilize various software tools, both commercial and open source
- Build cloud-native applications with teams across the company
- Build accessible, performant user interfaces with React and TypeScript, aligned to our design systems and CIAM security requirements
- Develop reusable components, documentation, and stories (e.g., Storybook); apply responsive design and WCAG/ARIA accessibility standards
- Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs; collaborate on API contracts, error handling, and performance
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with automated testing:
- Unit and component tests with Jest and React Testing Library (or Vitest)
- End-to-end tests with Playwright (preferred) or Cypress, Selenium
- Use mocks, fixtures, and CI orchestration for reliable pipelines
- Optimize for Core Web Vitals, bundle size, and caching; use modern build tooling (Vite/Webpack) and package managers (npm/pnpm/yarn)
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline) with linting, type checks, test gates, and preview environments
- Operate and monitor applications in production with logging, metrics, tracing, and feature flags
- Collaborate with backend and platform teams and be open to learning and contributing to API development, infrastructure as code, and cloud operations when required
About You
You're a fit for the role of Software Engineer if you have the following required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related technology program (preferred)
- 3+ years building modern web applications with React and TypeScript, Angular, or Vue.
- Proficiency in React/Angular, HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, routing, and state/data management (e.g., Redux Toolkit)
- Demonstrated experience with automated testing:
- Unit: Jest and React Testing Library (or Vitest)
- E2E: Playwright (preferred) or Cypress, Selenium
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries (e.g., Material UI, Chakra UI) and performance tooling (Lighthouse, Web Vitals)
- Nice to have: , monorepo tooling (Nx/Turborepo), feature flagging (Split, LaunchDarkly), and observability (Datadog, Splunk)
