Timings : 9.30 am to 6 pm (Monday to Saturday)
Reports to :GM Operations (HKM Charitable Foundation)
Basic Function (Job Summary)
We seek a highly proactive and dedicated Safety Auditor to join our team at Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation, Hyderabad.
As a safety officer, you will establish and maintain a culture of safety excellence and safeguard compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This comprises implementing effective safety programs and protocols and ensuring the availability and usability of safety equipment. You will promptly respond to employee safety concerns, provide guidance and support in resolving issues and improve overall safety performance.
Key Purpose of the role :
To ensure the safe, compliant, and incident-free operation of all centralized kitchens across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by establishing, auditing, and enforcing safety practices related to electrical systems, gas infrastructure, boilers, and heavy kitchen equipment.
Essential Duties and responsibilities (Requirements / Skills)
1. Safety Management System (SMS):
- Develop and implement standardized safety policies and operating procedures across all kitchen sites.
- Conduct periodic safety audits, risk assessments, and submit structured reports to the General Manager.
- Establish kitchen-wise safety dashboards for ongoing compliance monitoring.
2. Electrical & Equipment Safety:
Supervise the safety of electrical infrastructure including panels, motors, backup power systems, and appliances.
- Conduct periodic checks on load distribution, earthing, and electrical fault prevention.
- Implement and monitor Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) protocols as needed.
3. Gas Line & Boiler Safety:
- Regularly inspect and monitor commercial kitchen gas pipelines (LPG/PNG), regulators, and detectors.
- Ensure pressure systems and safety shutoffs are functional and compliant with safety norms.
- Oversee boiler operations including preventive maintenance, certifications, and safety valve checks.
4. Fire & Emergency Preparedness:
- Ensure fire safety infrastructure is in place (extinguishers, fire alarms, blankets, hydrants, etc.).
- Conduct quarterly fire drills and staff training for emergency preparedness.
- Liaise with fire and municipal authorities for licenses and periodic inspections.
5. Safety Training & Culture Building:
- Conduct safety induction for new recruits and periodic training for existing staff.
- Design kitchen-friendly visual SOPs and safety signage for awareness and recall.
- Promote a culture of proactive safety and hazard reporting.
6. Incident Management & Documentation:
- Investigate accidents and near-misses, prepare root cause analysis and CAPA reports.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, safety certifications, and compliance reports.
- Ensure all sites adhere to relevant statutory and regulatory safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills Required :
- Bachelors degree/ Diploma in Engineering (Electrical preferred) + Certified Safety Training (NSTI) related to occupational health and safety and industrial hygiene.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification or Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).
- Professional certifications, like NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), or equivalent.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role in kitchens, food processing, or manufacturing units.
- Proficiency in safety auditing, inspection and identifying hazards.
- In-depth knowledge of kitchen-based electrical, mechanical, gas, and fire safety practices.
- Tech-savvy: Ability to maintain digital logs, dashboards, and audit trackers.
- Flexibility to travel across sites and respond to emergencies beyond working hours
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train multi-level teams. Drive the safety strongly.
- Familiar with compliance with OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
- Expertise in using and maintaining safety equipment like fire extinguishers, eye protection and hazardous material protection.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Good-to-Have (Preferred):
Understanding of FSSAI, FOSTAC, HACCP, or ISO 45001 standards.
Experience in commercial or institutional kitchen environments.
Familiarity with municipal and industrial safety NOC processes.
