About the Role:

We're looking for skilled and detail-oriented Writers to produce local news stories that resonate with a U.S. audience. You should be comfortable working with a structured content format, open to feedback, and capable of writing clear, concise, factually correct, and engaging copy that feels native to American readers. Responsibilities
:

  • Write 3–4 articles per day covering local U.S. news, including community updates, events, and human-interest stories.
  • Follow editorial guidelines to ensure tone, style, and structure are aligned with native U.S. journalism standards.
  • Conduct online research using reliable sources, local news reports, and verified information.
  • Ensure factual accuracy, proper attribution, and source credibility in all content.
  • Incorporate feedback from editors and revise drafts promptly.
  • Write clear, engaging headlines and compelling ledes that grab the reader's attention.
  • Meet daily deadlines and maintain consistent output in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  • Collaborate with editors and fellow writers to improve story quality and newsroom efficiency.

Qualifications
:

  • Must have at least one year of journalism work experience
  • Good to have - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience writing for a digital media outlet catering to the US audience, preferably with journalism experience
  • Strong command of English grammar, syntax, and American news writing conventions.
  • Ability to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style for a U.S. audience.
  • Familiarity with AP style, news formatting, and SEO best practices.
  • Comfortable using Google Docs and WordPress (CMS).
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
