Role Title

R&D PRODUCT Design and Development ENGINEER

Data Center BU

New Product Development of Copper connectivity and Fiber Optic Connectivity products (modules, panels, racks, enclosures, path ways etc.)

Role Purpose

Develop and Design portfolio of Innovative and competitive Optical Interconnect Smart Solution Products for international and Domestic Markets comprising of Copper connectivity and Fiber connectivity products Data Center application.

What the role entails

(Key Responsibilities)

Design and Product Development Engineering activity of

1.
      

Complete ownership of assigned product/solution development activity from concept up to product realisation.

2.
      

Design and development of products/ solution for Copper connectivity and Fiber connectivity products like (panels with various connector configurations, Optical Modules, Network and Data Center Racks and Cabinets, Pathways etc.

3.
      

Active participation in product assembly, first Article approval and Reliability testing of the products as per the relevant standards.

4.
      

Design and development of sheet metal panels, modules racks and associated accessories for effective management of optical fiber connectivity products.

5.
      

Understanding the customer pain points, application requirements and converting the same into a product or a set of products in the form of a comprehensive solution meeting the applicable national and international standards and regulatory requirements.

6.
      

Innovating new ideas and concepts of connectivity in both copper and optical domain and converting into a workable product solution with securing the intellectual property rights for the company with the support of the IP team.

7.
      

Converting 3D models into 2D with necessary details for manufacturing.

8.
      

Work in close coordination with both internal and external fabrication and assembly plants for effective realisation of the product/solution.

9.
      

Perform DFM and collaborate with OEM suppliers to map the existing capabilities and process requirements to efficiently manufacture the product with required accuracy and precision.

10.
  

Conduct all the design activities in line with company guidelines of gate review process and full fill the requirements of the laid down process to achieve optimum product at the minimal cost.

11.
  

Ensure the selection of the raw material for products meet not only the performance specification but the requited national and international regulatory requirements like RoHS, REACH etc as applicable.

12.
  

Work in close coordination with Process engineering, Product engineering, product management to understand functional and aesthetic requirement of the product/solution.

13.
  

Work in coherence with other project team members to achieve the intended goals of the project.

14.
  

Work in close coordination with both internal and external test labs for activities relating to product testing like UV resistance, Corrosion resistance (Salt spray), Humidity resistance and any other properties as required by the applicable standards or customer specification as the case may be.

What we are looking for in you

(Skills, Knowledge, Special Attributes, Mobility)

1.
      

Hands on expert knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software applications like SolidWorks, AutoCAD.

2.
      

Expertise and notable experience of designing sheet metal components, machined components with appropriate understanding of GD&T.

3.
      

Through knowledge of sheet metal working and machining in terms of achieving complex shapes and critical dimensions.

4.
      

Well, demonstrated experience of understanding and implementation of Desing for manufacturing concepts (DFM) in sheet metal and machined components production.

5.
      

Well demonstrated experience of choice of appropriate raw material, grades and special properties required for achieving the required functional and aesthetic properties of the product under development.

6.
      

Working knowledge of international standards relating to sheet metal working like ASTM, ISO, UL etc…

7.
      

Working knowledge of various tests like UV resistance, Corrosion resistance, Ingress Protection (IP6X), Thermal Aging etc.

8.
      

Expertise in Experience in 3D & 2D CAD SolidWorks & CREO Platforms and able to design complex shaped Sheet-metal components Machined Components based on Technical Standards, Product Specifications and Customer Requirements.

9.
      

Willing to travel to customer site in India and abroad as needed on a short notice.

10.
  

Hands on with the desktop publishing software like MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word.

11.
  

Good command over English language in both spoken and written forms.

Prefered location - Mumbai, Pune, Dadra & Nagarhavli
 

Experience & Education

Minimum Qualifications & Critical Exposure to Perform the Job at the Optimum Level

Bachelor or Masters Degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering with 8 to 10yrs of domain experience.

OR

Post Graduate Diploma from NTTF or GTTC with 8 to 10yrs of domain experience.

CRITICAL SKILLS: PROFICIENT AS ADVANCED USER ON SOLIDWORKS / CREO/AutoCAD SOFTWARES
