Job Summary:

The Store Executive (Construction) is responsible for managing and controlling all materials and equipment at the construction site or central store. The role involves receiving, issuing, and maintaining accurate records of construction materials such as steel, electrical items, plumbing materials, tools & consumables. The executive ensures that all materials are handled efficiently, accounted for properly, and supplied to site teams in a timely and safe manner.


Key Responsibilities:
1.
Material Receipt & Verification

  • Receive incoming construction materials and verify them against purchase orders and delivery challans.
  • Check quantity and quality of materials as per specifications and inform the procurement or QA/QC team in case of discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain Goods Received Notes (GRNs) and other receiving documents.

Storage & Handling

  • Ensure proper stacking, labeling, and segregation of materials such as cement, steel, tiles, electrical, plumbing, and finishing materials.
  • Maintain adequate storage conditions to prevent damage, deterioration, or wastage.
  • Follow FIFO/FEFO principles for perishable or date-sensitive materials.
  • Implement safety measures in material handling and storage.

Material Issue & Tracking

  • Issue materials to site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors based on material requisitions or issue slips.
  • Maintain daily issue registers and ensure materials are used for their intended project activity.
  • Track consumption and reconcile stock periodically with site engineers.

Inventory Control & Reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date records of receipts, issues, and balances both manually and in ERP/software.
  • Conduct monthly or periodic physical stock verification and report variances.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock statements for submission to project management and accounts.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting material requirements.

5.
Coordination

  • Coordinate with Procurement, Accounts, and Site Engineers for material supply schedules.
  • Communicate with vendors and transporters for timely delivery and documentation.
  • Support auditors and project managers during stock inspections or material audits.

6.
Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory norms, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety at the store area.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of hazardous or heavy materials (e.g., paints, chemicals, rebar).


Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Diploma / Graduate in Commerce.

Experience:

  • 0–3 years of experience in store management at construction sites or infrastructure projects.

Skills:

  • Familiarity with construction materials and specifications.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Tally, MS Dynamics, etc.) and MS Excel.
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation ability.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Understanding of safety practices and inventory procedures.

  • Material availability vs. site requirements.
  • Timely submission of reports and documents.
  • Reduction in material wastage and pilferage.
