About KarbonShift
KarbonShift is a sustainability-driven company building a circular model where farmers turn crop residues into value.
We design simple, efficient systems to convert agricultural waste into carbon-rich materials that restore soil, reduce pollution, and strengthen rural livelihoods.
We're now expanding our R&D focus to develop biochar-based soil amendment products — blending science with sustainability to help farmers improve their soil naturally.
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Soil Scientist who can lead the development of carbon-rich soil products (soil amendment/enhancement products) derived from biochar.
You'll work closely with our team and laboratory partners to analyze, formulate, and test new products for soil health improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze biochar samples from various feedstocks (proximate, ultimate, CHNS, pH, EC, ash, moisture).
- Design and test different blends of biochar, compost, and nutrients to create carbon-rich soil improvers.
- Conduct small-scale lab and field trials to test effectiveness on crop yield and soil fertility.
- Coordinate with NABL-certified labs for soil and product analysis.
- Document results, formulations, and testing parameters in a structured format.
- Support branding and technical labeling (nutrient composition, dosage, soil type suitability).
- Recommend improvements for scaling and standardizing production quality.
Education:
- M.Sc. in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Agricultural Chemistry, or related field.
- (Alternately) B.Tech / M.Tech in Agricultural or Environmental Engineering with strong soil testing background.
Experience:
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in organic fertilizer / compost / soil amendment product development.
- Familiar with biochar properties and testing methods (CHNS, CEC, BET, etc.).
- Experience collaborating with soil labs and conducting field trials.
Skills:
- Knowledge of soil carbon dynamics.
- Hands-on understanding of composting, blending, and microbial inoculants.
- Data interpretation and reporting skills.
- Comfortable working in lab + field environments.
Language: English + Gujarati or Hindi (preferred for local coordination).
Personality Fit
Practical, experimental mindset
Curious about sustainability and innovation
