Carpenter Foreman

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Carpenter Foreman to lead a team of carpenters in the construction, installation, and dismantling of exhibition booths, stages, and custom displays for trade shows, events, and exhibitions. The Carpenter Foreman will oversee all carpentry activities, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship, adherence to safety standards, and timely project completion while managing crew performance and coordinating with project managers and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Execution:
• Lead the construction, assembly, and installation of exhibition booths, stages, display structures, and custom woodwork based on blueprints, design plans, or client specifications.
• Ensure accurate fabrication of components such as walls, frames, counters, and decorative elements using materials like wood, laminates, MDF, and plywood.
• Oversee dismantling and packing of structures post-event, ensuring careful handling for reuse or storage.
• Team Leadership:
• Supervise and mentor a team of carpenters and laborers, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring quality standards are met.
• Train team members on safe tool usage, exhibition-specific carpentry techniques, and industry best practices.
• Conduct daily briefings to align team on project goals, timelines, and safety protocols.
• Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and clients to interpret plans, address modifications, and ensure client expectations are met.
• Manage material inventories, order supplies, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of wood, hardware, and other materials.
• Liaise with other trades (e.g., electricians, painters) to ensure seamless integration of carpentry work.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Conduct site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards, maintaining a safe working environment.
• Ensure all work complies with venue regulations and industry standards for temporary structures.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect completed work for precision, structural integrity, and aesthetic quality, ensuring alignment with client specifications and brand standards.
• Address and resolve any defects or issues promptly to maintain project timelines and client satisfaction.
• Time and Resource Management:
• Develop and manage work schedules to meet tight exhibition deadlines, often working under time constraints in fast-paced environments.
• Optimize resource allocation, including labor, tools, and materials, to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience:
• Minimum 5-7 years of carpentry experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or foreman role, preferably in the exhibition, events, or construction industry.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality carpentry work for trade shows, exhibitions, or similar temporary installations.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and 3D renderings.
• Expertise in using carpentry tools (e.g., saws, drills, routers) and materials commonly used in exhibitions (e.g., MDF, plywood, laminates).
• Knowledge of modular systems (e.g., Octanorm, BeMatrix) and custom booth fabrication techniques.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams and interact with clients.
• Problem-solving ability to address on-site challenges and adapt to changing project requirements.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering polished, high-quality finishes.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in dynamic event environments.
• Willingness to travel to event locations and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet exhibition schedules.
