Key Responsibilities

1. Gold Assessment & Valuation:

  • Perform meticulous purity testing of gold jewellery and articles using industry-standard methods, including traditional touchstone (Kasauti) analysis and modern XRF machines.
  • Accurately weigh precious metals and calculate their value based on purity, weight, and the current market rates.
  • Manage and execute old-gold exchange and buy-back transactions, ensuring a transparent and fair valuation process for the customer.
  • Clearly explain the assessment procedure and valuation breakdown to customers, addressing any queries with confidence and clarity.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all valuations, including item descriptions, weight, purity, and transaction details.

2. Cash & Billing Management:

  • Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system to generate accurate invoices for sales, services, and exchange transactions.
  • Efficiently handle all forms of payment, including cash, credit/debit cards, UPI, and bank transfers.
  • Manage the cash drawer, and perform precise opening and closing reconciliations on a daily basis.
  • Provide a smooth and courteous checkout experience, handling billing inquiries professionally.

3. Compliance & Customer Service:

  • Adhere strictly to all company policies regarding cash handling, security, and gold valuation.
  • Verify BIS hallmarking and other quality marks on jewellery to ensure authenticity.
  • Build rapport with customers through honest communication and reliable service.
  • Safeguard all cash and precious articles under your supervision.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience as a Gold Assayer/Valuer in a reputable jewellery retail environment is mandatory.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in using a range of gold testing equipment. Must be comfortable with POS billing software and basic computer operations.
  • Core Knowledge: In-depth understanding of gold purity (karats), different metal alloys, hallmarking standards, and valuation formulas.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be calm, patient, and able to build trust with customers.
  • Language: Fluency in Hindi, Gujarati and/or Marathi is required. Basic proficiency in English is an advantage.
