Role Overview

As the Head of Server Engineering, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution across DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevSecOps, Security Engineering, IT Operations, and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC). You will be a strategic leader responsible for ensuring Mobikwiks infrastructure is scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Leadership

• Define and drive the long-term strategy for DevOps, infrastructure automation, security operations, and IT governance.
• Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams across DevOps, SRE, DevSecOps, Security Engineering, and IT Operations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Security, IT, and Compliance stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure solutions.
• Establish KPIs and OKRs for operational excellence, cost efficiency, uptime, and risk mitigation.

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Own the complete lifecycle of infrastructurefrom design and provisioning to scaling, monitoring, and optimization.
• Drive infrastructure-as-code best practices using Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for high-frequency, safe, and reliable deployments.
• Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization across cloud (AWS) infrastructure.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

• Ensure reliability, availability, and observability of systems through proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Implement sustainable practices for incident management and root cause analysis.
• Build self-healing, auto-scaling systems to maintain 99.99%+ uptime.

Security, DevSecOps & GRC

• Integrate security into every phase of development (DevSecOps) ensuring continuous compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
• Partner with InfoSec to define and implement controls for infrastructure and application security.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scanning, patching, and penetration testing.
• Own risk assessment processes, enforce compliance requirements, and lead audit readiness across systems.

IT Operations

• Oversee day-to-day IT operations including system administration, access controls, patch management, and helpdesk workflows.
• Implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Drive enterprise IT strategy around end-user computing, SaaS application management, and network security.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in DevOps/Infrastructure roles, with 4+ years in leadership positions.
• Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams across DevOps, SRE, Security, and IT Ops.
• Strong track record of owning infrastructure in high-availability, large-scale production environments.
• Experience in leading successful GRC and security compliance programs.

Technical Expertise

• Deep knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Expertise in Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, and automation-first practices.
• Strong command of Linux systems, Networking, and Security Operations.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, and scripting for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), caching layers, and distributed data systems (Kafka, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
• Experience integrating and enforcing DevSecOps practices and tools like Vault, Snyk, Qualys, or similar.
