Job Description

Senior Data Engineer

Pune, India

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions that support our enterprise data strategy. You will report to the Data Engineering Manager and work in a hybrid capacity from one of our India offices. In this role, you will lead development efforts, architect robust data pipelines, and mentor junior engineers to enable "Data as a Service" across the organization.

You will be reporting to TEAM LEAD - DATA ENGINEER.

We are open to hire - Pune, Bangalore, Noida location.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test scalable data management solutions including applications, APIs, and interfaces.
• Architect data structures and pipelines to support enterprise-wide data availability and analytics.
• Lead the design and implementation of cloud and edge-level infrastructure components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on Connected Enterprise and DA&I initiatives for internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers through the full development lifecycle.
• Ensure DevOps pipeline efficiency and manage CI/CD deployments.
• Implement and maintain containerized solutions using modern orchestration tools.
• Write high-quality, compliant code aligned with industry and regulatory standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement both short-term fixes and long-term solutions for recurring issues.
• Develop and maintain test and data validation frameworks to ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead a pod of analysts and engineers for new feature development and delivery.
• Manage and update backlogs and user stories in JIRA.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in ETL/ELT, data modeling, and pipeline orchestration.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and security principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical discussions.
• Experience working in Agile environments and using tools like JIRA and Confluence.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

• Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies.
• Familiarity with data lakehouse architectures and modern data platforms.
• Exposure to data cataloging and metadata management tools.
• Certifications in cloud technologies or data engineering.
