Water Treatment Plant Operator (WTP Operator)

Role & Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water/wastewater treatment units (screens, clarifiers, filters, chlorination, MBR/activated sludge if applicable) to ensure continuous, compliant plant performance.
• Perform routine checks and adjustments of chemical dosing systems, pumps, valves, blowers and dosing pumps to maintain target process parameters.
• Collect and test samples for core water-quality parameters (pH, TDS, turbidity, BOD/COD/TSS where applicable) and log results accurately per SOPs.
• Use SCADA/PLC interfaces and local control panels to control process setpoints, alarms and execute operational changes; escalate issues promptly.
• Carry out first-line maintenance tasks (cleaning strainers, replacing seals, valve operation), pre-shutdown checks and coordinate with technicians for repairs.
• Maintain accurate operation logs, shift handover notes, incident reports and ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental and compliance procedures.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

• Certificate/Diploma in Instrumentation, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or equivalent vocational training, or 2+ years hands-on experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants.
• Proven experience with chemical dosing, pump systems, valves, and routine plant operations in an on-site/industrial setting.
• Working knowledge of basic laboratory tests and regulatory parameters (pH, TDS, turbidity, TSS); ability to record and interpret process data.
• Familiarity with SCADA/PLC monitoring and basic troubleshooting; comfortable following SOPs and permit/compliance requirements.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and remain on-site as required; physically fit for manual tasks and confined-space awareness.

Preferred

• Experience with effluent treatment systems (ETP), MBR, UF/RO plants, or sludge management operations; exposure to ISO/OHS processes or environmental permits.
• Basic electrical/PLC troubleshooting skills, ability to read P&IDs and familiarity with online analyzers and automated dosing controllers.
• I need estimation person who knows costing and AutoCAD both Specially for ETP, ZLD.
