General Manager – Engineering (FRP & Extrusion)

The General Manager – Engineering (Extrusion & FRP) will lead all engineering and maintenance functions across the Extrusion and Flat Rolled Products (FRP) divisions. The role is responsible for ensuring high equipment availability, implementing advanced engineering practices, driving cost optimisation, and supporting production excellence through robust maintenance, project execution, and technology upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Engineering & Mechanical, Electrical Maintenance Management

• Lead end-to-end engineering and maintenance operations for Extrusion Presses, Melting Furnaces, Hot/Cold Rolling Mills, Scalpers, Homogenisers, Stretchers, Cut-to-Length lines, Heat Treatment units, and allied utilities.

• Ensure maximum equipment uptime through preventive, predictive, and reliability-centred maintenance (TPM, RCM, FMEA, CBM).

• Formulate and implement annual maintenance plans, spare strategy, and maintenance budgets.

2. Project Management & Capacity Enhancement

• Drive greenfield and brownfield engineering projects—new extrusion presses, FRP line expansions, civil & structural works, utility upgrades, and automation projects.

• Lead equipment commissioning, performance qualification, and process stabilisation.

• Collaborate with OEMs and vendors for CAPEX planning and technology adoption.

3. Process Improvement & Technology Upgradation

• Implement engineering interventions to improve press performance, recovery, die life, throughput, and yield.

• Drive energy optimisation projects in furnaces, compressors, heat recovery, and power distribution.

• Champion Industry 4.0 initiatives—automation, SCADA, MES, AI-based monitoring.

4. Safety, Compliance & Quality Systems

• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, statutory compliance, and audit readiness.

• Drive engineering-led support for ISO, IATF, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Implement root-cause analysis for breakdowns—8D, DMAIC, Kaizen.

5. Team Leadership & Vendor Management

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams—mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and utilities.

• Build strong vendor partnerships and negotiate AMCs, spares, and service agreements.

• Drive capability building and skill enhancement within maintenance and engineering teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgy / Industrial Engineering.

• 20+ years of experience in aluminium extrusion & flat rolling products,

• Proven leadership experience in engineering, plant maintenance, and large-scale project executions.

• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, furnaces, mechanical systems, PLC/SCADA, utilities, and automation.
