Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Head to lead our engineering and maintenance team at our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will ensure uninterrupted operation of all utilities, production, and facility equipment while maintaining compliance with GMP, regulatory, and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and deep knowledge of maintenance in a regulated pharma environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the maintenance department, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, utility, and instrumentation teams.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all plant equipment and utilities.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, WHO, FDA, and other regulatory standards in all maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and calibrate critical equipment such as AHUs, chillers, boilers, water systems (PW/HPW/RO), air compressors, and cleanroom systems.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance SOPs, records, validation, and qualification documents as per regulatory requirements.
  • Support engineering aspects of equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and facility validation.
  • Coordinate with production, quality assurance, and EHS teams to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage spares inventory, AMCs, and vendor relationships to ensure timely availability of parts and services.
  • Implement energy conservation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Train and develop maintenance personnel to build a high-performing and safety-focused team.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and respond to maintenance-related observations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation / Industrial Engineering.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, validation, calibration, HVAC, and cleanroom systems.
  • Proven experience managing utility systems (water, air, steam, HVAC, etc.) in pharma plants.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance management software (CMMS) and MS Office tools.
  • Familiarity with EHS standards and regulatory audit requirements (USFDA, MHRA, WHO, etc.).
