Manager - Powder Coating

URGENTLY REQUIRED MANAGER IN POWDER COATING UNIT

Position: Manager – Surface Coating (Sheet Metal Industry)

Department: Production /Surface Coating

Reporting to: Plant Head

Location: HADAPSAR

Role Objective

To lead and manage the entire powder coating operations for sheet metal components, ensuring high-quality surface finishing, cost efficiency, adherence to production targets, and compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management

• Plan, schedule, and oversee powder coating operations for sheet metal parts.
• Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Monitor production output, quality levels, and adherence to timelines.
• Maintain data on the ERP system.

2. Process & Quality Control

• Implement and maintain surface preparation processes (degreasing, phosphating, Oxsilan etc.) to meet coating adhesion and corrosion resistance requirements.
• Ensure powder coating thickness, finish, and curing meet product specifications and customer standards.
• Coordinate with QA for inspection, testing, and corrective actions.

3. Maintenance & Equipment Management

• Ensure regular preventive maintenance of powder coating booths, guns, ovens, conveyors, and pretreatment plants.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues to minimize downtime.

4. Cost & Resource Optimization

• Monitor and control powder consumption, reject rates, and rework to reduce wastage.
• Optimize coating line parameters for maximum efficiency and minimal cost.

5. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, train, and motivate coating team members to achieve departmental goals.
• Conduct skill development programs on the latest coating techniques, equipment handling, and safety practices.

6. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all operations comply with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001, and other relevant quality management systems & maintain required documents for the same.
• Maintain safe working conditions, follow EHS norms, and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.

7. Relationship Management:

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance. Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the organizational strategy.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of powder coating process, pretreatment, and curing cycles for sheet metal parts.
• Familiarity with automatic and manual coating equipment.
• Good understanding of quality standards (ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001), salt spray test, adhesion test, DFT measurement.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
• Data-driven decision making and process optimization mindset.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Education: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience: Minimum 12–15 years in powder coating operations, preferably in the sheet metal industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen / 5S.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹647, ₹2,113,322.94 per year
