Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a strong background in Big Data technologies and distributed systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines, ensuring high performance, and driving efficiency in data accessibility and quality.

This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in Hadoop ecosystems, stream processing, and cloud platforms, who can also guide and mentor a team of engineers. Knowledge of financial services is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize complex Java, MapReduce, Hive, and SQL jobs.
  • Lead and manage backend/distributed data systems and data engineering teams (in-house and vendor resources).
  • Build and maintain dimensional data models to improve accessibility, efficiency, and quality.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of source data through analysis and validation.
  • Oversee deployment and auditing of models for performance and accuracy.
  • Develop top-quality dashboards following industry best practices.
  • Prioritize and deliver projects according to business and internal needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data, networking, and software-related issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve group objectives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7–10+ years of proven experience as a Big Data Engineer.
  • Strong expertise in Hadoop Stack (HDFS, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, HBase, Flume, Sqoop, Cassandra, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with stream-processing systems (Spark Streaming, Storm).
  • Proficiency in object-oriented and scripting languages such as Python, Scala, Java, C++, Ruby, PHP, R, Linux scripting.
  • Strong SQL expertise, including advanced query writing and performance tuning.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Postgres, Cassandra).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
  • Exposure to data science and machine learning tools is a plus.
  • Experience leading and managing data engineering teams.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, planning, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the financial services domain.
  • Experience working with Cloudera Hadoop environments.
  • Strong ability to build cooperative working relationships and mentor junior team members.

Job Type: Contractual / Temporary

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: ₹180, ₹200,000.00 per month
