The Mapping Engineering team develops software to measure, model, and manage the global internet and traffic on Akamai's servers. This software enables efficient handling of customer internet information with top-tier performance and reliability, supporting Akamai's distributed network. It is a critical component that ensures seamless operations across the platform, embodying the essence of Akamai's technological expertise.

As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to designing and developing components for a next-generation mapping system. The Internet presents complex problems requiring innovative solutions, making this role both engaging and fulfilling for team members.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

Analyzing, designing and implementing system software. This brings functionality, accuracy, reliability, and scalability to Akamai's mapping system.Developing innovative and elegant solutions in a highly dynamic environment.Collaborating across engineering teams and other stakeholders to integrate and deliver features, bug fixes, enhancements, investigation reports on time.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.Showcase proficiency in C/C++ programming, creating efficient, scalable solutions for complex software development challenges.Have familiarity with Internet protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, TLSHave experience not limited to coding but also investigation, debugging and handling production escalations.Be knowledgeable in scripting (e.g. Perl, Python, shell)
