About the Role

We are looking for an experienced 
Java Backend Developer with mandatory expertise in Scala
 to join our engineering team at Infosys. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building scalable, high-performance backend systems, contributing to architectural design, and ensuring seamless integration with enterprise applications.

This role demands strong backend development skills in 
Java and Scala
, a solid understanding of distributed systems, and experience in designing and maintaining APIs and microservices for enterprise-scale applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java (11+) and Scala
  .
• Implement microservices architecture, ensuring scalability and fault-tolerance.
• API Development & Integration:
• Build RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party/internal systems.
• Ensure secure, optimized, and reliable API endpoints.
• Data Management:
• Work with relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle) and NoSQL databases.
• Optimize queries, handle migrations, and implement caching strategies.
• Cloud & DevOps:
• Deploy, monitor, and manage applications on AWS/Azure/GCP
   (preferred Azure for Infosys projects).
• Use CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Testing & Quality:
• Implement unit, integration, and performance testing with JUnit/ScalaTest.
• Follow TDD/BDD methodologies.
• Collaboration & Delivery:
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and cross-functional teams.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Core Expertise
  :
• 6+ years of backend development experience with 
  Java
   (Spring Boot, Microservices).
• Mandatory hands-on experience with Scala
   for production-grade systems.
• Frameworks & Tools
  :
• Spring Boot, Play Framework (Scala), Akka (actor-based systems), Kafka (event streaming).
• Databases
  :
• Strong experience with RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
• Exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
• Cloud & DevOps
  :
• Proficiency in CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployments.
• Testing
  :
• JUnit, Mockito, ScalaTest, or similar frameworks.
• Other Skills
  :
• Strong understanding of OOP, functional programming (Scala), and design patterns.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Proficiency in Git-based version control.

Good to Have

• Exposure to 
  Reactive Programming (Akka, Lagom, Vert.x)

• Knowledge of
