Bengaluru, Karnataka, India Eventbrite Full time ₹ 12,00,000 - ₹ 36,00,000 per year

THE CHALLENGE
Eventbrite operates one of the world's largest data ecosystems for live events, supporting millions of events and hundreds of millions of transactions annually across 170+ countries. The Data Platform Engineering team's mission is to build the foundational infrastructure, tooling, and data services that enable high-quality analytics, operational decision-making, ML workloads, and real-time event processing at scale.

We are seeking a technical manager who can elevate the Data Platform function, strengthen cross-organizational alignment, and lead the evolution of Eventbrite's real-time and batch data capabilities—including next-generation streaming, cost-efficient warehousing, metadata governance, and AI-augmented tooling.

THE TEAM
The Data Platform Engineering team sits at the core of the Data Organization and partners closely with Analytics Engineering, Data Science, Product Analytics and cross-functional engineering teams. Our mandate spans all layers of the platform: ingestion, transformations, streaming services, data quality, metadata and lineage, reliability, and cost efficiency.

We empower diverse user personas—from data scientists to business analysts to ML engineers—by delivering secure, scalable, and discoverable data products. Our team thrives on solving complex platform challenges through collaboration, shared learning, and engineering excellence.

THE ROLE

  • Lead with empathy, clarity, and conviction while championing the platform's vision and the team's work across the organization.
  • Amplify each engineer's impact through structured coaching, mentoring, and career development; cultivate a high-trust, high-accountability culture.
  • Own the team's roadmap, backlog, and technical strategy; roll up your sleeves when needed and act as a force multiplier in critical design and execution decisions.
  • Partner deeply with Analytics Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Infra teams to build data products, services, and frameworks that unlock analytics and ML capabilities.
  • Drive the development and operation of real-time data infrastructure including Apache Flink, Apache Pinot, and streaming ecosystems.
  • Oversee Snowflake platform governance, performance tuning, cost efficiency programs, and operational guardrails.
  • Lead AWS-based data infrastructure with a rigorous focus on cost monitoring, right-sizing, FinOps discipline, and reliability.
  • Champion data quality and observability frameworks using dbt, Soda, Great Expectations, and Datadiff.
  • Drive adoption of DataHub or equivalent metadata, catalog, and lineage systems to ensure discoverability, trust, and governance at scale.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes through tailored agile practices, documentation standards, automation, and platform-wide operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture aligned with Eventbrite's values—collaborative, transparent, innovative, and ownership-driven.
  • Explore emerging technologies, including agentic AI, and identify opportunities to integrate AI-driven automation and developer-experience enhancements.

THE SKILL SET

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, align, and engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and developing technical talent, including scaling teams of 3+ engineers.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data platform, data engineering, or analytics engineering roles with strong expertise in large-scale data systems, data modeling, warehousing, and pipeline development.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and business leaders.
  • Strong technical depth with:

  • Real-time streaming systems: Apache Flink, Apache Pinot, Kafka/MSK, streaming pipelines

  • Warehousing: Snowflake & performance optimization, cost governance, RBAC, resource management
  • AWS data infrastructure: S3, ECS/EKS, Lambda, Glue, cost monitoring, tagging standards, FinOps practices
  • Transformation & quality frameworks: dbt, Soda, Great Expectations, Datadiff
  • Metadata & lineage: DataHub or equivalent platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize diverse use cases into unified schemas, data contracts, canonical models, and standardized platform patterns.

  • Experience delivering multi-quarter roadmaps with parallel workstreams, balancing strategic investments with operational execution.
  • Understanding of finance analytics, ads systems, or revenue-related data flows is a plus.
  • Exposure to agentic AI, AI-assisted development tooling, or AI automation frameworks is a plus.
