System Administrator (2 Years Experience) – Metadesign Solutions

Metadesign Solutions is a technology services firm focused on software engineering, cloud-enabled solutions and digital transformation for enterprise and SMB clients. We design, build and operate resilient IT solutions that support product development, managed services and cloud migrations. We are seeking a proactive System Administrator with approximately two years of hands-on experience to join our infrastructure team in Gurugram. The successful candidate will maintain and secure on-premises and cloud-aligned environments, support internal users and development teams, and grow into automation and DevOps responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily system administration tasks including user account provisioning, permission management, group policy updates and routine maintenance to ensure reliable operations.
• Install, configure and maintain Windows Server and Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL) hosts, services and core applications across development, test and production environments.
• Monitor server and network health, perform capacity and performance analysis, and respond to alerts to minimize downtime.
• Deliver L1/L2 desktop and infrastructure support: troubleshoot OS issues, software installations, network connectivity, and hardware diagnostics for employees and contractors.
• Operate and administer network security appliances with hands-on experience on Sophos Firewall: create and manage firewall rules, configure VPNs (SSL/IPsec), monitor logs and enforce IPS/URL filtering policies.
• Support cloud resources and basic cloud administration tasks (VM lifecycle, storage, IAM) for AWS/Azure/GCP environments and assist in small migration or provisioning activities.
• Support automated and manual deployment activities, collaborate with development and QA teams on CI/CD pipeline needs, and assist with simple scripting/automation to reduce repetitive tasks.
• Maintain up-to-date SOPs, configuration documentation, asset inventory and an internal knowledge base; escalate complex incidents to senior engineers when required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Approximately 2 years of hands-on experience in system administration or IT support roles.
• Practical experience administering Windows Server and Linux systems (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL) including user management, package management (apt/yum), service management (systemd) and log analysis.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN concepts and basic routing.
• Hands-on exposure to Sophos Firewall administration: rule creation, user/device authentication, VPN setup and traffic monitoring.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with experience resolving L1/L2 incidents and using monitoring tools and logs to identify root causes.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) — EC2/VM, storage, IAM basics and console/CLI usage.
• Experience with scripting or automation using Shell/Bash or Python to streamline operational tasks.
• Basic exposure to DevOps concepts and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and version control (Git).
• Knowledge of containerization fundamentals (Docker) and virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V).
• Experience with endpoint security, system hardening practices and patch management processes.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft MCSA/MD, RHCSA or cloud associate certifications are a plus.

Pay: ₹25, ₹35,000.00 per month
